DETECTION OF THE PROBLEM

DETECTION OF THE PROBLEM

DETECTION OF THE PROBLEM

    • Maternal and child deaths are one of the main problems in public health in the world and in Mexico.
    • Since 2000, with the Millennial development goals of ONU, it was stablished to be crucial to improve maternal health to save more than half a million women’s lives who annually die because of complications during pregnancy and labor.
    • ONU currently signals these three problematics, through the 3rd objective of sustainable development (ODS) “Integral health and wellness”
      - 3.1 Reduce maternal mortality rate worldwide.
      - 3.2 Put an end to newborn and under 5-year-old children evitable deaths.
    • It is considered that more than 90% of maternal deaths could be prevented.
    • Mexico has historically maintained a high maternal mortality rate, above global average.
    • In Mexico, approximately 14 women die each week during pregnancy, labor and postpartum.

OUR STORY

Against this backdrop, Red Materno Infantil arises in 2012, as a program in “In the community I find A.C.” to help reduce maternal and child mortality in Mexico City.

Since the beginning we have worked with the Capital´s Health Department, in order to give health education and support pregnant women and those who give birth in public units.

Red Materno Infantil has worked in three public hospitals in Mexico City: Hospital General Ajusco Medio, Hospital General de Tláhuac y Hospital Materno Infantil de Magdalena Contrerasin which we have given support to women in labor; and in more than 30 health care centers in:

Tlalpan, Iztapalapa, Tláhuac, Xochimilco, Cuajimalpa, Coyoacán, Álvaro Obregón y Magdalena Contreras donde ha impartido educación perinatal.

In the private sector, we have an alliance with CIMIGEN I.A.P. through which our users can receive medical attention before and after giving birth.
